@Emma thank you so much!!!! I loved my Hakka but my girl will only side feed now and she's so long and picky about how she eats 😭 she also won't feed if I lean back. Do you have any recommendations on new feeding positions?
I don’t sorry, I’m trying to remember what I did to build my stash, and other than having an off 10 minute pump or the Hakka, I have no advice. But I’m glad the first bit was helpful x
I usually pump 2x a day, every morning and night right after my baby feeds and also use my haaka when she feeds throughout the day
Have you tried football hold for feeding? Also what I do to get a freezer stash is have a wearable pump at hand when I feed her. When she finishes one side I put it on and move her to the other and then move it again. This way I can still burp her and carry her without the pump in the way. She is 7 weeks and eats about 3-3.5 oz a feed, and I get anywhere from .5-1.5 from a side. Mornings I get about 2-2.5 oz as there is more milk at the beginning of the day. I stock it up for four days and then bag and freeze it I averaged it out and it’s about 15 oz over four days, so 3-4 oz extra a day. I have 50 oz in my freezer since the 6th or 7th.
@Caryn i loved the football hold when she was newborn but unfortunately by like week 4 she hated it. I was told by a lactation specialist because she's so long and babies like to kick while they eat? Maybe if I try it with nothing behind me it will work!
Maybe put a pillow behind your back so there is more clearance for legs? My LO at last weigh in/measure was 22 inches and I atill do football, not sure what cutoff length would be, lol. Can you latch her in craddle, but to the side? So her body isn’t in front of you, it’s to the side? And then you can use the haaka. 🤷🏼♀️
A general rule of thumb for babies that only eat breastmilk is 1-1.5 oz per hour. So if baby is feeding every 2-3 hours a bottle should contain between 2-4.5 oz. A breastfed baby should never need more than 5 oz per feeding no matter the age. Unlike formula, breastmilk changes in calorie content as baby grows to give them what they need. Often times if a breastfed baby is over fed via bottle it stretches their tummies and this can cause them to be unsettled and can be confused for still being hungry. I would recommend putting the Hakka on the other side of the one you’re feeding off. It will soon add up
