Biting

I breastfeed my little one and she occasionally bites, especially when teething! The other day she bit down really hard that it broke the skin (ouch)! It’s still really sore now and is so painful to feed her from that boob as there’s a little cut on it. She’s not bitten since but now I’m stuck with only being able to feed her from one side and an engorged very painful right boob. Does anyone have any tips on getting it to heal faster? I’ve been pumping on the right side to relieve the pressure a bit but would prefer to just be able to feed from it 😩

Poor you 😩 Could you try a shield maybe to try and feed off the sore boob with? Depends where the cut is but might mean it's protected a bit. Otherwise, could try putting breast milk on the cut to help it heal, people always say it's got super healing powers! Hope it's short-lived and heals soon x

Here with you!! I’m using silver nipple cups for healing, it’s a bit slow (days) but helping. When I pump, it aggravates the broken area and re-opens it so I only hand express on the affected boob I’m feeding her on it still at the times she’s less likely to bite (e.g falling asleep) to avoid engorgement, although I haven’t really been getting engorged even when I avoid that side for a few hours When she bites, I put her down separate from me (no touching), then re-offer a ‘new’ feed. It’s reduced the biting incidents but not stopped them entirely Good luck!!

I used silver cups, lanolin and milk leakage that collected in the cup. I pumped on the side that was bleeding to relieve the engorgement.. it took a few days to heal I think! I just don't have the energy to pump when it happens now so I grit my teeth and carry on feeding on both sides and then whack lanolin back on and silver cup it 😭 Good luck!!
