Although I've just noticed that says 1st floor and is on the 4th floor, sure that's just an error.
I think all rooms are private for birth (labour ward 1st floor) but deffo check about post partum (4th floor) because i was on a ward with 3 other families. I didn’t think about the private room at the time - I wish I had!, I think if you give birth in the birth centre you have a private room PP
I don't know of a single hospital in the UK where labour ward rooms are shared. Very normal for post natal wards to be 4-8 beds. But not during labour.
Call the private patient office and ask if it's a possibility in maternity Contact details Tel: 020 8725 3578/3579 Monday to Friday 9am -5pm Email: private.patients@stgeorges.nhs.uk
Delivery rooms are all private and then there are other rooms- for example HDU rooms etc. They can not be booked. If you are being induced there is a bay that’s shared (4 beds). If you are induced on antenatal ward or are inpatient for whatever reason all the rooms have 4 beds, there are no private rooms. Postnatal ward has a few private rooms that can be inquired about after delivery. They can not be booked in advance
I was given a room to myself because of my allergies The labour rooms for my hospital were private although induction room was shared. The psjynpartum wards had a few women per ward but I had a single room for myself as I have allergies which make it hard for me to share rooms. It actually gave me a lot less space and I would have preferred to share
@Andrea delivery suite is on the 1st floor, gwillim ward (post natal) and the carmen suite (birth centre) is on the 4th floor. It can be a-bit confusing sometimes!
My midwife told me last week that most hospitals have private rooms you can pay to stay in after giving birth. However this depends on how many patients there are and if there is any availability. You might want to call up and enquire but unless you're having a planned csection, you might not be able to book something in advance.
I was induced at St George’s and had a private room for this from prior to it being administered right through to giving birth. I was moved to shared ward about 6 hours after I gave birth
@Amy-Jo Oh how confusing! From the video on their website it looks like it's all on the 4th floor 🤣 I'll have to ask for a tour when I'm next there, don't need to be stressing about where to go when the time comes haha!
Let me explain: Delivery suite 1st floor- anything at all before 37 weeks, anything abnormal after 37 weeks (bleeding, reduced feral movements, waters breaking with meconium etc) or being high risk pregnancy or wanting epidural. Carmen Suite 4th floor- low risk labour after 37 weeks, waters breaking after 37 weeks (must be clear). If you are being induced they will tell you if it is on Delivery Suite or Carmen Suite (the Antenatal Ward is also called Carmen Suite so it is a little confusing
If there available at the time or you can call to enquire I know my friend booked hers as they wanted a side room .
