Fathers Taking Daughters into women’s restrooms.

Would you say it’s okay for a father to take his potty training daughter into the women’s public restroom?

I think either is 100% fine. But, I would be more likely to tell my husband to take her to the ladies room so a) she gets used to the format of the bathroom she will use on her own B) the likelihood of being flashed by a weirdo is 0, instead of maybe some minor tiny percent C) if for whatever reason dad needs help, women are more likely to be helpful with a little girl.

I will say the women’s restroom is way more private than a man’s restroom. If they don’t have a family restroom nearby I see no issue really. I heard that sometimes men will announce they are bringing their daughter in to use the restroom so no woman is surprised or dumbfounded by it.

@Trish I agree too plus not all men’s restrooms are very clean. I just want others views on the topic

I'd say women's bathroom they're are urinals in the mens and men standing about with their junk hanging. something a little innocent kid don't need to see

@Heidi I completely agree

I think he should at least announce he’s entering but don’t see anything wrong with it.

@Fay I Agree with that and that’s our plan if he’s ever out with her (grocery shopping or dr appointment) announce then enter

I grew up with my dad taking me into the men’s room. He’d cover my eyes and lead me into a stall. Then I’d do my business while he’d stand right outside the stall. And he’d walk me to the sink and out of the restroom still covering my eyes (unless there was nobody in there). While it worked for me growing up, I now understand the sanitary issue. I’ve told my husband to take my daughter into the women’s room if there’s a rare occasion of no separate family/ handicap restroom available and I’m not around. As long as he announces himself and his intentions, there wouldn’t be an issue (hopefully most women would understand). And if my daughter needed wipes or hand sanitizer, etc. women would be more likely to have it on hand. Most public men’s restrooms don’t even have seat covers or step stools, as I’ve noticed working in public spaces.

I just wanted to add- if some creeps in the men’s room hear or see a little girl in there, how could you trust they wouldn’t sneak photos of your daughter under or over the stall? Or go jerk off in a stall once the father and daughter exit the restroom? I just think violations/ safety risks could be less likely to occur in the women’s room. And women may naturally get in “mom mode” and do what they can to look out for little girls/ help dad out in the women’s room.

He can go to any of those

For sanitary reasons 😬 also for safety reasons 😬 like mens bathrooms have urinals that are out in the open. Women’s bathrooms are always stalled so a man still wouldn’t see anything if he walked in there. If a female child walked into the men’s bathroom she definitely could see a man’s parts if they were using the urinal. Also, for those who don’t know about travel potties, they are a good option!! Keep a couple throw blankets(to block view points) and a pack of wipes in your car along with a portable toilet. This could prevent this situation all together.

@Jay do you have good recommendations of a travel potty?

@Jay thank you so much 🫶🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@Sierra This one is very light weight easy to store and comes with a storing bag and liner bags. Also can double as a potty seat for a big toilet if need be.

@Jay that’s exactly what we need for on the go! We just finished potty training in the house and now we need to expand it to the outside world

@Sierra Awee yayyy so happy for LO’s transition!! I really hope this helps:)

@Jay it did thank you again so much🫶🏼

Personally would prefer the women’s bathroom as then she won’t accidentally be exposed to a penis since ya know.. guys bathrooms are different to a womens

@Maddison I agree but my husband is a bit nervous he doesn’t want to cause conflict in the situation where he has to when doing daddy daughter days

I think maybe if he enters the bathroom and announces that hes in there, hes a father coming in with his daughter so that she can go to the bathroom in a safe space 99% of women should be fine with it Or he can use the disabled bathroom if there is one!

If a man brought his daughter into a woman’s restroom I literally wouldn’t think anything of it. He’s just there to take his daughter to the bathroom, nothing else

I thought the child was older.. but if she's 3 and under, then just take her into the men's restroom. No need to risk getting the police called on you.

I always wondered this too

Yes, totally. You think it’s better to take her to men’s?😰

@Detroit Mama🧋 I’m not sure if there would be a changing station in the men’s restroom though. I would definitely feel more comfortable if he took her into the women’s but idk why it’s just complicated

@𝐼𝑜𝒶𝓃𝒶 I believe he should take her to the women’s restroom I just want to know others perspective on the topic.

@Detroit Mama🧋 I don’t think it would go as far as cops being called I mean he’s a father carrying his daughter into a women’s restroom probably repeating “hold it kid hold it, don’t go in your pants we’re almost on the potty” after announcing he’s a man entering the restroom with his __ year old daughter

@Tay hopefully the father of your child would say something/do something. This is why there’s family restrooms, or you use the stall at the end. I do not want men in the women’s room period.

@Mariah cmon even if he announced beforehand it’s for the sake of his daughter? I mean like @Jay said, women’s restrooms are stalled and a man wouldn’t see anything. In a men’s restroom I’d be afraid of my daughter seeing a man’s junk.

A travel potty is actually a great option

@Ariyana there is one stall…in all male restrooms. Dad simply can hold the kids face to his chest. I’d still rather him find a restroom that is just one toilet instead of a stalled one anyways.

@Mariah idk in my opinion I wouldn’t mind if he came into the women’s restroom. It’s different if he didn’t have daughter on hand.

@Ariyana it just would open up a whole can of worms with men in the female restroom. Like what if a perv walks in but he has a kid so everyone’s okay with it, and he takes another or something. Idk I just wouldn’t be comfortable with it.

@Ariyana a travel potty would be the best use it before getting out of the vehicle!

@Mariah agree that’ll save from the confusion

@Mariah My husband would do anything to protect my daughter, but he doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head. Nobody is suggesting we open this conversation to all men being welcome in the women’s restroom with wrongful excuses. This is a conversation amongst mothers/ women who believe their children’s father is trustworthy and respectful. If a father with his little girl opens the door to the women’s restroom and says, “I’m a father assisting my daughter with the potty in an emergency situation, my head will be down,” women would rarely have an issue with it. And if she does, she should speak up to say, “Please wait a moment until I leave the restroom to respect my privacy,” and I doubt any father would have an issue with that. Dangerous men entering women’s restrooms are usually dressed in women’s clothing and don’t announce their intentions. You may not want a man in women’s rooms, just as we don’t want our daughters in men’s rooms. Family rooms aren’t always accessible.

@Tay yes 1000000% agree.

@Tay I definitely agree on that level of concern, I just don’t think it would be the greatest. I wouldn’t mind if like you said, hey is it empty I’m coming in.

In my area men have been hiding in toilets behind cubicle doors waiting for children to attack them so to me a man should have every right to go in if he is protecting a woman/child. I think putting in a family bathroom with changing table would be a big shout xx
