Pumping to build freezer stash

Hi Ladies, I'm going back to work in the next month or two, so I'm trying to build a freezer stash. I started pumping again 4 days ago. I had stopped when my baby was 6 weeks because I was drowning him, and I didn't feel I needed more than 4 freezer bags full at that point. Anyway, I've been pumping after every feed during the day, and I'm getting between 2-3oz with each pump. At first, I was getting nothing with each pump. How long did it take you mama's to start getting a good amount with each pump after each feed? What type of pump is everyone using? Which pump have you had the most success with?

2-3 oz after nursing is definitely a big oversupply! And you’re doing amazing. If baby is nursing at least 6 times a day and you’re pumping that much after each feed you’ll get 86-126 oz a week over the next 4-8 weeks. That’s a lot!! 2-3 oz is a whole feeding so it’s like you’re feeding twins already right now if babe is eating 2-3 oz then you’re also pumping 2-3 oz! I think you’re on track and to just keep going as you are! My fave pump has been my spectra - the blue one!

@Katelyn thank you for being so encouraging! I was feeling defeated. When you break it down like that, it makes me feel better! I think my LO takes between 4-5 oz, or at least he did when his dad gave him two bottles in November. Maybe I'll try using the spectra more. I have the pink one. I've just been using my elvie and recently started alternating with the momcozy m5.

Make sure you’re using the slowest flow nipple and pace feeding! Typically breastfed babies only need 1-1.25 oz per hour they don’t eat. So feeding every say 3 hours would be 3-3.75 oz! But yes! You’re doing awesome! You could also replace a feed or two if you wanted too with a bottle to get babe used to it more. Then you’d use a few ounces but you’d like also gain some too if you’re already pumping that much after nursing!
