My baby is the same. I would say we go through at least 15 in 24 hours. I will change her nappy before a feed and she will poo literally as I’ve put the clean one on. I then feed her for 5/10 mins then change her again, only because she’s crying and hungry. But in general I change as soon as I know because it can’t be nice or good for them to sit in dirty nappies for very long xx
I change immediately if I notice one or smell it but sometimes if I hear it come out, I know she will do more within 5mins so I wait a little for several more butt splurt noises then change her when I think she’s done😂
I think it is impossible to do it immediately every time. Especially if you have other children, or pets, or other things going on ... Personally, i always give it a few minutes at least, because i find they poop in a little cluster, so there is no point changing immediately as most likely they will follow it up with a other poop in 5-10 minutes. I wouldn't leave it longer than 30 minutes though
Change immediately and put baby on a potty straight after you’ve taken the nappy off - it’s a bit of a knack to get used to but it works really well if baby pees or poops immediately after a fresh nappy is on (or you can catch it before they use the nappy and use far less nappies overall). It’s a huge faff but I thought it would be interesting to try elimination communication - having a c section made it feel impossible but now we manage about 50% of pee and 30% poo on a potty rather than in a nappy 💪🏼
Change it right away when you notice the poop. You don’t want baby to get a rash. Ive chosen to go cheap on newborn nappies. As baby ploughs through them. Will have nice nappies when baby is using 2/3 a day. The 10 a day nappy usage slows down quite dramatically at about 1 or 2 months. They even stop popping in the night! So you can stop the night time nappy changes! You can leave the wet nappies on. The urine acts like a protective barrier to the skin.
