Introducing cows milk

Apologies, as this has probably been asked before! My LO is now one and has been EBF. He has had dairy in his diet since 7-8 months of age. I now want to offer him some milk with his afternoon snack. Do I just give him a little in his cup and see how he responds? We are still breastfeeding in the evening and morning and want to continue till he lets me know. During the day, he is at nursery and therefore I want to be able to offer some milk.

@Neha, my LO have just turned one, so it should be fine to have it introduced as a drink, and he has had it in his diet (cooked) since 7/8 month

@Sara sorry my bad, I read the 7-8 months bit!! You can either introduce it straight - like you say offer in a cup. Or if you have formula/expressed milk, then you can do slowly - like 1/4 cows milk and 3/4 formula/BM, and then every few days increase the proportion of cows milk

I give my ebf baby a bottle of warm cows milk in the afternoon. She loves it and also still loves the boob!

@Neha, no worries, I did think it was the case 🙂 It is a good idea to do part expressed and cows milk. I'll try that

We breastfeed morning and night and don’t give any milk in the day - just make sure he has dairy with his diet. Followed advice of lactation consultants who advised the milk is only needed in the day if you want to give it but as a EBF baby they are fine at nursery with water and solids. It’s worked for us so far

@Holly thank you 😊
