When did people start using sudocream when changing a nappy? I have had mixed opinions from home visits and health visitor. My baby is a bit sore but only a few weeks old

We used it after a couple of weeks. It's there to prevent soreness at the end of the day x

I went against my mother and didn’t use Sudocrem instantly due to my midwife saying the same thing and within a day my daughter had nappy rash. Decided to used Sudocrem from then on at about 2 days old and she never had it again and my second never had nappy rash either, even when teething.

I used it when he needs it regardless of age

Great thank you both! I would have used it from day dot too but midwives said not to use anything for a month on their skin as so delicate …. Made me paranoid

We’ve only ever used it when things looked sore or rashy

@Cesca yes I wouldn’t use it unless sore x

Some people use it as a preventative but we’ve never found the need

Stright away and also used it under his neck.

At any sign of redness, but if there is nothing there, I don’t use anything

Aveeno barrier cream is also nice if you’re looking for something lighter

From experience a barrier cream is better as prevents rather than curing Savers do one for £1 I can't think what it's called now. Pantenol or something maybe

We used a tiny bit once when she was 17 days old because there was a small amount of redness x

I didn’t use it with my first and within two weeks he has the most awful nappy rash. I felt so guilty. Used it every time after that. It or bepathen. And metanium when it was bad.

@Lou that’s how I felt! Midwife said change nappies but I don’t see how that changes anything as always gonna be damp and sore xx
