Breaking of waters

Has anyone had their waters broke and had a successful VBAC? I have been having problems with my cord since about 30 weeks. My last 3 readings have come back fine but think they still want to induce me which I really don’t want. I am 1cm dilated and 38 weeks but they want to break my waters as I’m already dilated. Didn’t know if this would decrease my chance of a successful VBAC or not? Any help is appreciated!

Could you request a sweep or the balloon catheter to see if that helps you dilate further? I’ve also been offered AROM to try and avoid an induction using hormones but I’ve seen so many people say that they still needed the drip to get their contractions going after it was done 😞 it’s such a hard decision cos I can picture in my head how amazing my successful VBAC will be but then the risks associated with induction for it are so high! It also seems to be quite a niche topic I haven’t been able to get many stories from people where they were induced for a VBAC. I hope it all goes well for you whatever you choose 🫶🏻

@Eve I’ve had 3 sweeps already with another one booked on Saturday, I just think I’m panicking I won’t get a successful VBAC with any form of induction/arom. And yeah I really don’t want to go on the drip again either! It really is such a hard decision😩x

I had dilapan rods which are similar to the balloon and then had my waters broke 24 hours later once the rods had helped me dilate. I also had pitocin drip during my labour to help bring on contractions. I had forceps and an episiotomy though I did have a successful VBAC x
