Can you choose to give birth at another hospital but have all your antenatal appointments at your local hospital?

Hi! I found out I’m pregnant with my first baby. Little bit of a silly question but I want to give birth st St Thomas hospital but live in North London and my closest hospital is North Mid. I do not wish to give birth there but want to have my antenatal appointments there to save me from traveling to St Thomas all the time. Is this possible?

I think so I had my hospital bit far from home and antenatal was assigned like 5 mins from my home

I gave birth at st Thomas both times. 1st time I lived in Woolwich and was told by multiple women to avoid QE hospital. 2nd time I lived in Brentford and just wanted to be at St Thomas again. You can present at any hospital for birth and have the right to choose your care. Your GP and services will still be your local but you again can go elsewhere if you want.

Yes almost 3yrs ago now I had an emergency transfer from Barnet hospital as my waters broke at 22wks, anyway i had baby at 24wks and he will be 3 in March, I fell in love with that hospital infact the whole area of Westminster lol it now holds a special part in our lives ❤️ Anyway 2023 I fell pregnant and straight away I referred myself to st thomas they were brilliant and funny thing is I had referred myself to barnet initially , however St Thomas came through quickly with the hospital appointment etc X

I had my appointments at St thomas but when my partner called about my contractions they advised us to go to a nearer hospital so definitely you can. We Ignored them and went to st thomas anyway and they obviously accepted me I would advise doing at least from 36 week appointment there though so you can get the antenatal class and do the birth plan there it really helps you stay calm to be familiar with the environment. I didn't mind travelling for even my 38 week appointment. I was on mat leave
