Breastfeeding frustration

I think the hardest (and most beautiful) part of early motherhood for me is breastfeeding. Nothing causes me to stress out and emotional like breastfeeding. The constant worry about whether my supply is enough for my baby, whether his latch is correct, why he’s falling asleep after only nursing for 5 minutes, why he’s fussing at the breast, why he refuses to stay latched at my breast while doing fine at the bottle, why pumping is so tiring and painful physically, whether to pump or not to pump, hate it when I pump and can’t feed baby directly at my breast, afraid baby is getting acid reflux from my milk, afraid baby is preferring the bottle, question whether and how much formula I should supplement him, second guessing every single decision I need to make, and the sleep deprivation and exhaustion of night feedings and burping etc. If I develop postpartum depression, breastfeeding is definitely the main cause! Can other moms relate ???

This is so relatable I had to double check and make sure I didnt make the post! Every single thing you said is spot on . Your not alone mama !! Im here with you too . One thing thats kinda helped me out was switching off and on . Doing one feeding on boob , one on bottle so on back and forth . If I pump then I do bottle again and let someone else feed him so I can get a few minutes of me time .

You’re definitely not alone and you’re doing an amazing job ❤️

Fun fact, breast-feeding is actually the #1 cause for woman to develop postpartum depression- be really mindful of your thoughts and how you’re feeling emotionally. Remember fed Baby is best baby. You’re not alone mama. Just make sure your still enjoying him through all of it because happy mom leads to happy baby, remember he can feel all your energy and whatever you choose to do your the best mommy in the world for him, proud of you for sharing bc it’s so relatable and spot on🙏🏻💙

Yep! That’s why I stopped too stressful for me. I rather be mentally healthy to take care of my newborn. I was always in stress and it’s not good for my newborn either. I just do formula 100%

Wow, yes! Unfortunately, I can definitely relate. You hit do many nails on the head with what you said. But, it's just a phase, and it's going to get easier (is what I tell myself bc that's what I've been told). Hang in there!!

Learning the breastfeeding dance is hard, and every baby is different! Be patient with yourself and hire a Lactation consultant if you can.
