Making baby kick

I’m 23 weeks, I’ve been able to feel kicks since 19 weeks and I’ve usually got a very active baby, but today I haven’t felt her at all. I’ve tried having a bath, drinking something cold and blasting music at my belly but still nothing. Does anyone have any tips on making her move? I went to the midwife unit last week for reduced movements and everything was fine so I don’t want to go again and waste their time and I just feel a bit of a hypochondriac

Fizzy drinks! Sugary drinks! Sweets! Anything high in sugar should make her boogie lol. But always get checked just incase! They don’t care about you wasting time they’d rather make sure everything is okay xx

Have you tried having a bath? My first used to move around when I was in the water.

You are never wasting their time. Its normal for movements to be a bit irregular around now but never be worried about being a hypochondriac, they are there to take care of you and baby and any concerns you have! Try a torch on the belly, eating something you really enjoy (like a sweet treat), or getting your partner to talk to you belly (we got response to deep voices with our first!)

I’ve been through this, so I totally understand how worrying it can feel. I noticed with my little one was being active at night, he’d sometimes settle during the day and be a bit quieter. My partner also helped me notice movements at night when I didn’t realise he was kicking. That said, trust your instincts. Midwives are there to help, and it’s never a waste of their time. If you’re feeling unsure, give them a call for peace of mind—it’s always better to check and feel reassured.

I second @Kelly - you're never wasting their time. If something doesn't feel right it's better to get checked out x

I recently saw my midwife (Monday) and she said to me if you’re ever in doubt and have tried things to get the baby to move through eating, baths etc, you need to call and come in. Better to be safe! Hope everything is ok x

Thanks everyone, I ended up going to the midwife unit because nothing was working. The second I lay down on the bed she booted me so hard my husband could see 🤦🏻‍♀️ but still had her heart rate checked out etc and all was good. Thank you for your advice!

Aww, glad everything was OK! In my first pregnancy, we had a few scares like that, one of which almost ended in an emergency induction (I was around 37 or 38 weeks then) because the on-call doctor thought there might have been an issue with her heart. Thankfully we asked to wait until morning and the consultant said she was happy to let us go home.

I had severe polyhydramnios in my 1st pregnancy and there was days i felt nothing and did everything that normally got her moving but as soon as i got to the hospital she was off and if always feel so embarassed, but given she was chilling in more fluid then normal movements was hard to feel at times depending on the position she was in, she was a little bugger then and 19 months old nothings changed 😂
