I feel scared and anxious when my toddler isn’t particularly high temperature

Since my toddler started nursery, cold and cough is non stop with occasional temperature. I feel scared when she has temperature and I just can’t stop thinking the worst. What do I tell myself? How other mums coping with these days/nights?

I’m normally a pretty chill mum but my baby having a temperature is probably one of my only anxiety inducing things! No actual advice other than Calpol and keeping an eye on them xx

I'm a nurse and I get so scared when my kids have temps I'm in with nurofen and calpol. C

It’s awful isn’t it?! I try to remind myself that a high temperature is a normal and healthy immune system response, I read somewhere that the immune system works better at a higher temp which is why it happens. Also, remind yourself that most of the serious illnesses that you may be scared of are accompanied by other significant symptoms- rashes, trouble breathing etc. It’s so hard though, I hate putting my little guy to bed when he’s got a high temperature, after bath I check him all over for rashes, check his breathing and make sure he’s hydrated, if all good I can relax a little!

Thanks @Josie I feel scared at nights too. It’s difficult to get some sleep when you have poorly baby. Those are really good checks and will definitely put my mind at rest
