Why

@Zoe why what?

What’s the reason you want to do that. Just leave it?

My son is 7 months and I have yet to circumcise him but his father wants to and I know your suppose to do it when their young so I’m just wondering

There is a lady on Facebook who recently did it for her kids. 4 and 1 and she said it went well

@Ife that’s great thank you

Even if the dad wants him to I would say to still leave him. Not much reason to

@Zoe that wasn’t the question she asked. If u didn’t do it for ur son then I think the post wasn’t referring to u And @incognito you don’t have to explain urself

following but i will getting mine sons done within a week of birth due to religious reasons

@Ife I don’t really care. I was asking why which adds more context to the question (whether it’s a medical reason/religious etc). If not it could just be left.

I was going to comment earlier saying how people on this app were probably going to attack you. Yes he will be fine and a doctor wouldn’t preform the procedure if it wasn’t safe! You don’t need to explain to anyone. Best of luck.

@Zoe it’s a lot cleaner and as a boy he is going to thank me in the future

My son got it when he was 3 weeks old, it is safe. It heals pretty fast actually.

i don’t know why everyone on this app has to attack one another. if it were me personally, i would do it now rather than later, if you plan on doing it. (i would have done it at birth bc i would feel it’s the best time.) but i think 7 months will be better than 1 year or 17 years, etc. you do what you want!!

I honestly would not recommend getting it done at a later age. For us it was a full surgical procedure requiring general and local anesthesia and took months to heal. We had weeks and weeks of sensitivity and pulling at his diaper, not wanting it washed, etc. Also the bandage got stuck and wouldn't come off. Had to go back to the urologist to get it removed and that alone was hard to watch.

It is safe to do with a good care team but there is a lot to think about. There is always a risk with putting them under anesthesia and there can be complications with healing afterwards. The remaining skin around the shaft could adhere to the head of the penis causing pain, a risk of infection (as with any surgical procedure), etc. Even after healing, circumcised males can have complications according to the urologist I spoke with.

For us it was medically necessary, but if it hadn't been, I would have left it alone. It's also becoming increasingly common in the US to not circumcise. I figure circumcision can be done at any point in life and a man can decide for himself later but they can never regrow a foreskin🤷🏻‍♀️

I have other reasons I never wanted to circumcise but won't subject you to that. It's a very personal decision and you and your partner will have to make that choice for your son together. I hope some of this information helped though! And sorry for the long message 😅

It’s not cleaner, just have to be taught how to clean it. Having foreskin doesn’t cause much issues
