My son goes to one that's more of a preschool. They do activities during the day that are age appropriate and geared toward learning. My 2.5 year old has "circle time" in the morning, where they practice colors, letters, numbers...you get the idea. He gets to learn and play all day rather than just be "watched" by someone.
i worked at preschools and the best ones i worked at had two things: a low teacher turn around rate and less students total. every state has laws of how many teachers need to be in a classroom per x amount of kids so making sure there’s less kids total ensures the likelihood that your child will receive adequate attention for any needs and the low teacher turn around rate means the less amount of teachers that quit often will have 1. better working conditions which in turn provides better school conditions for the children and 2. an increased chance for your little one to build trust with the teacher instead of having to constantly adjust and build a new relationship with someone new consistently
My girls are both doing great in daycare. You’ll still see your previous baby every single day 💕

I stay at home, My friend has a son who is my son's age (19 months). I have noticed that even though her son has been sick more as a downside, his playing well with other kids is better than My son who only goes to a play group once a week for hour đź’•
