Excessive thirst in middle of the night

Heyy mamas-to-be. Are any of you all experiencing extreme thirst in the middle of the night? During the day I drink at least 80 ounces of water. But when I wake up in the middle of the night, I am extremely thirsty and if I gulp down too much water (like 8+ ounces) at a time I get nauseous. With frequent bathroom trips, this happens several times a night. Any advice?

How far along are you? As of 2nd trimester I started using a humidifier in my room. It has helped a lot with thirst overnight. I also sleep in 64°. The further along I got, the hotter I feel. Over the weekend 63° started to feel better. I’m currently starting 29wks today!

I get soooo thirsty during the night and I hate it too because it definitely does not help with the amount of bathroom trips I take!

Do you have GB? One of the classic signs is excessive thirst and request urination?

Drink the water and take the bathroom breaks, it’s better than waking up to the charlie horses in the middle of the night 🥴

Also.. try eating a banana a day if you can.. until you notice a difference in the absorption of water. Or add a little sea salt to 8oz water and drink at least 8oz salt water a day until you notice a difference. Hope one of them helps.

@Liz I’ll be 29 weeks tomorrow. I’ll try a humidifier. Thanks !! I do not like being cold, so the room is set to 72, normally, but last night my partner raised it to 74.

@Alexis no I do not.

@Liz thanks !! I don’t like bananas but I’m taking the zero sugar electrolytes (Nuun and body armor) throughout the day to help with that. Haven’t helped so far!

I’d suggest getting some electrolytes to see if that is the problem.

Have you had your sugar checked it’s possible your diabetic

You should get a humidifier, it really helped me with this same problem. I was loosing sleep over the amount of times I had to pee because of night time fluid consumption. I also started just taking a few sips from a straw instead of straight from a bottle or glass. This combined helped me with the nausea and bathroom trips.

@Crystal I am not.

@Maire thank you, I’ll try a straw and humidifier. My partner gave me ice chips and that helped some. But I was still thirsty!
