Backlash for breastfeeding at play group

Omg that is horrible, so sorry you went through that. If you feel like it later on it might be worth telling the people running it what happened (unless they saw it anyway and didn't do anything).

@Tanya I thought about it, but the lady who was doing all the organising and seemed to run the club seemed the most pally with the “do you think you’re better than us” lady… so unfortunately I get the impression toxic ladies are welcome because the ring leader is toxic herself 😢 I won’t be returning, and warning my other friends!

She must be organising this by getting funding from a local authority or a charity I assume? Definitely report, they shouldn’t be allowing this to happen

I’d report this. You shouldn’t feel bad about however you feed your baby especially at a baby group! It’s disgusting behaviour, there’s already too much judgment on everything we do as mothers without people going on like this. Please don’t let this put you off other groups as they’re not all like this, I go to some amazing baby/toddler groups

Wow that’s horrendous! The groups should be safe spaces where we can feed in whatever way without fear of being judged! Xx

Wow. They sound like a delightful group of women. I wouldn’t be going back to that group! Way to support other mums! There are far more supportive groups out there If the organiser didn’t seem approachable I’d be that person that posted a review online (on their socials etc) to make other mums aware how unsupportive it was!

That says a lot about them and their insecurities. So sorry you had to experience that when you are doing something so natural and so amazing for your baby. Breastfeeding it bloody hard and we should be praised not berated!! Definitely report them if you’re up for it, but don’t let it get to you. They sound like a sad group of toxic mums who have their own insecurities / issues with breastfeeding.

I think they all have an inferiority complex. It's not anything to do with you. They're just jealous

Please complain and give us an update. In 2025 this should not be happening! I combi feed and one of the reasons being I felt awkward at times in public as LO is a wriggly feeder. This is enough to put people of BF which should in fact be encouraged. Good luck with your complaint! I would write to the local paper as well 🥲
