We did it by offering milk in his sippy cup about an hour after his tea. So we wouldn’t even take milk upstairs as part of the routine. We also didn’t make a fuss about not having it at bed time. However we did do this at 14 months so I know some could question it now. I’m not saying it’ll be easy or it will work but worth a try. Someone else might have other ways that have worked too. Hopefully whatever you do works well and smoothly 😅
You don’t have to stop milk just milk in a bottle xx
Maybe try to do it before bed then brush teeth. Then once this is established, change to a sippy cup. Make it gradual and it should be fine. I don’t think one bottle a night can do any long term damage if you brush teeth after. X
@Emma yeah I think we will start with giving it before bed then brushing teeth. For some bizarre reason we brush her teeth first, then put her into her cot with her bottle of milk. I’ve never even taken into account that it’s the wrong way round or that milk will be damaging her teeth. I think it’s more of a comfort than anything. It’s the only bottle of the day she has so I think she’s just got used to it
We transitioned away from it when he turned 1 by giving it in a sippy cup before bed instead. I’d do it in a tiered approach rather than all at once - 1. Give the bottle before bed instead of in bed for a few days 2. Give it in a sippy cup instead of a bottle for a few days 3. Start giving it in a sippy cup before brushing teeth Main advice is stick to your guns and don’t revert back at all. Like if you try taking it away then putting them down and they’re crying for it, just do not give it to them. It’ll be tough for a couple nights but then you’ll be in a new routine before you know it
