One side painful

We are 9w+3d into our breastfeeding journey and it's been difficult to say the least. I had a lot of pain and tears at the start but around week 3/4, it all seemed to settle down for the most part minus a flare up of psoriasis and a small thrush episode. I've noticed the past few days that my baby is making a loud suckling noise at times, almost like a cartoon noise of a baby sucking on a dummy. Today, I've had a lot of pain in my left side when she's latching on for the first minute or so and then it settles down. There's no pain on my right and I can't see any obvious reasons (no blocked milk duct etc that I can see). Does anybody have any ideas what might be causing this and how I can fix it? I do have psoriasis quite bad around that area so I'm really hoping it's not that as a major flare up caused my breastfeeding journey with my middle child to end only 4 weeks in (I was at risk of severe bacterial infection) and I don't want that to happen again 😩

@Moon exactly like that! It's so frustrating that pain is coming back now that I feel like I've kind of got the hang of it 😩

Ah yes I get it’s frustrating. It’s definitely a journey that keeps bringing up new stuff. But you are doing so well already for giving your baby this beautiful nutrition. TBH my now 8 months old didn’t have the best latch when this young, but I didn’t realise at the time. With hindsight I wish I would have just seen a lactation consultant (not a health visitor, their knowledge unfortunately is often limited) then. Would have saved me loads of time, as an inefficient latch will keep on bringing challenges. The lady who did this post offers video sessions or you could look for someone local (look for IBCLC). Many offer pay what you can afford sessions
