My induction worked - but still lead to c-section for other reasons. I had the pessary fitted and it fell out at some point but it did bring on labour, my waters broke “naturally” and I laboured to 7cm. It’s difficult to say whether the section was specifically due to the induction or not, but for the purpose of inducing labour then it did work. I think it’s more referring to the fact that sometimes inductions don’t induce labour, therefore sections are needed? Ie having a pessary fitted, having waters broken and none of that bringing on contractions therefore C-section is required. It’s well known that inductions are highly likely to result in further intervention, be it forceps or sections etc xx
I had to be induced as I was 43 weeks pregnant. I had a pessary, and 2 rounds of proctin before I actually went into labour. I ended up having the hormone drip for 23 hours without ever getting past 3cm dilated. Ended up having emergency c-section due to “maternal exhaustion”.
Not this birth but with my 1st son at 41+1 my induction lead to emergency C-section. This time round I elected for a C-section.
Not a C-section, but my induction happened so quickly and aggressively there was no time for pain relief, I had to be put under general anaesthetic and my little boy was forceped out 🥴
@Sian aww blimey you poor thing!
@Tanya I think I would also opt for an elective c-section 2nd time round!
@Flow gosh! That must have been such a whirlwind x
I did end up with an induction because my waters had partially broken without labour beginning and I was 2cm dilated. In any other scenario I had explicitly said I would refuse an induction and have a planned C-section because of the risk of emergency C-sections being so high with an induction. For me it was because of the higher risk of cascading intervention once you've gone down the induction route and the higher change of an epidural etc and distress for the baby for the intensity of the labour. As it happens my labour was actually really quick - 5 hours and on gas and air as it was quicker than anyone expected
Induced at 39 weeks due to high blood pressure, had 2x pessary and lots of contractions but cervix didn’t dilate, ended in c section and wish I was never induced! Will be electing for a c section if I have any more I think
My induction lasted 3 whole days. It was extremely fiddly and did absolutely nothing other than making me and baby exhausted and I had an emergency C-section in the end 😢
My induction was due to my waters breaking, my contractions did start on their own several hours after they broke however I wasn’t dilating quick enough so we had the gel induction and the drip over 72 hours, to which I just wasn’t dilating quick enough and a lot of time had lapsed - me and baby weren’t distressed it was more of an infection risk we decided to go down for a section x
40 hours in labour and only got to 5 cm , ended up as a c section . My second baby I was in natural labour but her heart rate dropped so another emergency c section 😭 I feel like I was robbed twice .
I had an emergency c section but that was for other reasons, not because the induction didn’t work x
My induction (hormone drip) worked a little too well. They had to reduce the dose as my contractions were too close together- I basically got no break from them. I ended up giving birth 7 hours after starting the drip & the pain was intense, I could barely move. I had gas & air, then the pethidine injection, then I asked for an epidural but I was too close & had started to naturally push at that point so wasn’t able to get it.

Had an induction with my 4th but just needed my waters breaking which lead to a normal delivery I was 39 + 5
Did your induction end in a vaginal delivery or a c-section?
