I had Elle tens 2 bought second hand off vinted and I'm definitely recommend it! I start using it as advised as soon as I've started feeling that my contraction are regular, then I've used only this during my active labour. It definitely does help. Obviously at the end I was having boost all the time instead of with contractions but if I will give birth again it's definitely my must have.
I used the boots one and it worked a treat! Didn't need to go even close to max setting. I don't think the make of machine will make any difference as long as it's a specialised labour one (with continuous and top-up setting). It will either work for you or it won't! Get it on ASAP when contractions start- no use waiting until they've already ramped up.
I had the Elle tens second hand but with new pads and it was fab, got it on pretty much just after contractions started and wore it till 6cm when I got in the water
I just hired one online from birth ease. It’s Elle tens, £22 for 7 weeks and comes with everything you need
A tens machine is subjective to the user (it’s also really easy to position pads incorrectly and it then not work properly as a result) so your friend may have felt it was useless but that may purely be the way her body processed things. I’ve had many women use the boots one (it’s the most readily available in the shops) and it’s been pretty effective for early labour. Later in labour most women don’t get a great deal of relief from a tens machine
Boots one tens machine was a life saver for my 1st , my 3rd baby is now 7 mnths i actually went n brought a new one from boots as i thought i losted it so ended up with 2 but jus sold them as no longer uses them but yes they’re good x
I used the Elle tens machine and it was amazing. Loved the boost function, it was like a massage and really helped numb the contraction pain . I used it to the max at the end of my labour. Got mine second hand so maybe worth looking around if you’re not sure or ask the hospital if they have one. I know my local hospital has them x
I used a cheap AUVON one from Amazon. I don't have any experience with others but I felt like it helped me once I found a setting I liked, but my contractions started so quick and we're so intense/fast from the beginning, I just had it on and cranked up from the get go 😂 but for £25 I wasn't gonna be too mad if it didn't do much because I can then reuse for any period cramps or muscle aches in the future
