Okay possibly an unpopular opinion but I’ve done a lot of research into this and kids that go to preschool/pre-k actually don’t have any advantage in the long run. There was a very long study done and kids that went to preschool test ahead until second grade and then actually fall behind in the long run and tend to have behavioral issues as they get older. Basically the study revealed that nothing is going to be more beneficial than one on one time with their parent at home. Just something interesting to keep in mind.
We’re doing a 2 day/week preschool, then pre-k which is 5 days/week. It’ll be good for my son to get comfortable with the rhythm of going to school without having to go straight into 5 days/week which I know will burn him out really fast. Plus we’ve done other small programs before, and while I do agree with Kyra that research shows kids do better when they’re at home with their parents, I also needed a genuine break. A 2 day preschool gives me that space and I can be much more involved with him on the days he’s not in school. Just my 2 cents.
@Katharine totally valid!!
I have mine enrolled in preschool and than she will go to prek afterwards. In preschool she knows her colors and how to Count and her abc
