@Christina thank you so much for this… your last bit of words of encouragement just helped me feel better. I can agree it’s not as natural as everyone said.. there is so much to breastfeeding that I didn’t even know. Thank you though 🩷
@Paizley I'm so glad that was helpful. there really is so much to it. My son is 3 months old and I tried for 3 Days to get him to breastfeed but could not do it because of his latching issues, so I exclusively pumped until he was 10 weeks old and then realized it was just not worth it. For me, I was pumping 13 times a day and still only got about two and a half ounces per pump, so sometimes we really do need to make the Judgment call of what is better for our mental health and that is okay. Because when we are stressed out our babies will feel it. And the happier the mommy is the happier our baby is 💓 motherhood is harddddd but we've got this! You go, mama!
Earth mamas nipple butter & coconut oil works wonders. (You don’t have to wash either of them off when pumping or latching) They’re most likely sucking blisters. Babies get them on their lips too sometimes. Take a break. Hand express a few times a day. No pumping. But give yourself a break. The more damage you do to your nipples the harder it will be. Take a nice warm shower and give your breasts massages before hand expressing and pumping when you start back up …if you choose to start again. If not; don’t feel bad.
Have you put anything on these blisters? I'm not sure exactly what they are, but nipple cream will probably help... id put some cream on them and then make sure to reapply each time after a feed/pump. It can take a couple weeks for your milk to establish, when I was trying to get mine established I pumped about every 2 hours for about 15 to 20 minutes. Pump the other side as she feeds from one, as that can help as well. Mine would not latch at all due to a lip tie, so I have no words of advice for that but I will tell you that it gets better. If it isn't working, it's ok!!! Not everyone is able to breastfeed and (to me) it isn't as natural as everyone said to me that it was. Whatever you end up doing, she'll be fed ❤️
