youre definitely not doing anything wrong, my baby cried when he got his diaper changed until he was 2 months old, after that he just got used to it! theyre just uncomfortable because they were all warm in our bellies haha, youre doing great <3
@Lucy I’ve been putting puppy pads down as he kept having little accidents lol. Comes with the territory of a boy I guess, so yes this has defo helped. Maybe it’s just something I have to persevere with and hope that he starts liking it or at least tolerating it more in the future.
@Gabby aw ok that’s good to hear. Thank you ❤️ I guess it is such a change for them, to being in a nice warm cozy space to being plonked on a cold changing mat in a big room.
Our LO was the same, he would scream and have actual tears running down his face. But he slowly just got used to it and by 3 months he was fine. You’re doing great and things will get better.
I don't see a scenario where you change the baby without waking them up unfortunately (at least not mine)... What they say is change them before feeds at night so they go straight to sleep after the feed, and during the day after the feed so they stay awake. But if it works better before, do it. During the night, we only do it on the midnight feed, if there's only wee at 3-4am we wait until the morning feed, to bother her the least
I mean I don’t mind him waking up. It’s just the screaming as it makes me feel so sad for him. He sounds like a banshee 😂 and then he also gives himself the hiccups and it just makes it harder for the both of us. But it just sounds like it’s something that he will eventually grow out of and get use to hopefully x
I would say our LO was around 2-3 weeks old before she stopped crying for every change. It was so heartbreaking when she started to produce tears 😭 3 months old now and never cries because she is getting her diaper changed.
My partner and I would feed like 2/3 of the bottle then change then give the rest and it seemed to stop the crying. Now he’s 4 months he’s fine and I just change him after the bottle
I change before bottle, she lays on a puppy pad over the changing mat and put socks on him under his clothes I found she doesn’t scream!🥰 it’s a trick my friend taught me!x
Mine was the same when was a newborn and realised that if I feed him first he doesn’t cry. He didn’t like to be changed when hungry. You can try and see if yours is the same 🤔
My little girl was exactly the same when she was newborn. We found that putting a towel on to our changing mat took the edge off how cold it was, changing her quickly and having a dummy to hand worked too. She grew out of it within a few weeks though and is the complete opposite now!
