Hospital bag

I’m about to start listing what I need in my hospital bag but I don’t want to either overpack or underpack😩 What has everyone got for theirs?

I haven't started mine yet but I found a checklist on the NHS website that recommends what to pack that's useful!

I packed the essentials yesterday do you want the copy of my list ?

Mama Hospital bag 🏥 🎒 ✓ Hospital notes ( on app) ✓ 2 change of clothes ✓ Pads ✓ Nursing bras ✓ Knickers ✓ Socks ✓ Medication ( still need) ✓ Toothbrush and toothpaste ✓ Shower gel ✓ Hairbrush ✓ Moisturiser ✓ Hair band ✓ Flannel ✓ Deodorant ✓ Lip balm ✓ Towel ✓ Earphones ✓ Hand fan ✓ Night dress (pj) ✓ Dressing gown ✓ Water bottle ✓ Nipple cream ✓ Nipple pads ✓ Peri bottle ✓ Vitamins and painkillers ✓ Charger ✓ Hand sanitiser ✓ Music ✓ Snacks

I don’t have everything yet packed just the essentials

You're more likely to bring too much than too little. Don't worry too much! I'm on my 3rd baby and I'd recommend: a robe/cardigan/some kind of cover up, phone chargers, very loose clothes for you to come home in, change of clothes for your husband, something to pass the time like a book, basic toiletries, and something personal that makes you feel like yourself (like makeup or favorite chapstick). The hospital is going to give you way more than you need for postpartum care.

@Catherine r you in uk or USA ?

@Catherine hospitals in the UK (where OP is) don’t give you anything.

@Katie I used the NHS checklist for my bag and found it was more than enough for me

@Liza That's good to know!

I overpacked and left extra stuff in the car, I ended up staying longer than expected and used everything I had and my husband had to go home and wash stuff. X

I’m in the UK and was provided with towels and more than enough maternity pads so this is probably hospital dependent. You’ll need an overnight bag, anything else you can get someone to bring in for you if you have an extended stay. The maternity wards are HOT so I wouldn’t recommend taking a dressing gown as it’ll take up too much room and you probably won’t use it. Baby needs a packed change bag and take your chosen formula & bottles if you aren’t planning on breast feeding. Don’t bother with snacks etc as you’re likely not be able to eat/drink anything other than water whilst in labour and you can buy in anything you want afterwards. Unless you’re being induced you won’t have time for kindles/podcasts/entertainment 😂 Only extras you’ll need are your notes and any photo props you plan to use!

I will have planned c section if l stays as it’s looking
