Anyone else's LO scared of everything?

I just don't know how to help her. She seems so scared of everything. We just went to a kids disco tonight and her friend who is 10 month older was off dancing around the room but my LO just wanted to stay next to me the whole time and then she cried and wanted to go home. I am a gentle parenter but I'm wondering if I should be teaching some more resilience because I'm worried she's going to start losing friends :(

My little boy was literally scared of life until he started nursery in September - he seems really brave now compared to how he was 😂Does she go to nursery/preschool?

She does go to preschool for one day a week and childminders the other days. She did get really brave but has got worse again since starting preschool and since her baby sister came along 8 months ago x

Doesn't sound like she was scared. Just shy and a little unsure. X

@Ruth thanks Ruth. I'm definitely aware that I could be looking at this all wrong, I think with the upcoming reception year starting I just don't want her to have a hard time making friends :(

She may just not like how noisy it is and how many people there are my son is the same the ladt disco we went to. But he did tell me afterwards it was to noisy bless him.

@Violet this is true, she often struggles with loud noises and I did have ear defenders on hand. But usually she covers her ears when things are too noisy. Appreciate everyone balancing out my concerns though xx

There's no right way or wrong way. I do totally understand your concerns. My son struggles to engage in play with children his age so I'm worried too. Xx

She may just be shy and take a while to get used to something my daughter loves discos but sometimes struggles with the noise, they seem to play the music really loud at the clubhouse mini disco, so I've just bought her some ear defenders to help

Sounds like my son. In unfamiliar environments he won't leave my side/hides behind me, and anywhere new we go he takes a long time to warm up. Generally after a couple of hours he'll start to build confidence to explore a bit but generally the play session/party/whatever is wrapping up by that point! It's the same every time. He even like it when he go to to the grandparents house ti start with. Seemingly fine in preschool where he goes h three days a week
