I’m 10 pp and I haven’t even thought about having sexual intercourse with my husband yet xx
Healing can take a long time. I had pelvic heaviness for months, probably more like a year after my first, just took a long time to feel normal. I had a 2nd degree tear. This time around I’m feeling more normal more quickly and had a 2nd degree tear again. Im still not thinking about gym or sex and probably won’t for a while! Ha Do get checked if you’re worried but your body has been through a lot and will need time to recover. I know you shouldn’t run until at least 6 months pp so I would take that as an indication as to how long it can take to be basically healed?
Reassuring to hear others are still very much recovering thanks ladies xx
I’m almost 13 weeks pp, still feeling heaviness in the pelvic, my scar from the episiotomy and 2nd degree tear still gives me discomfort and its raised. My pelvic floor isn’t 100% still either. I have now started to get joint pain in multiple joints, which apparently is linked to my hormones after labour 😵💫 so I am 100% with all of you girlies in how your feeling xx
Hey, I'm nearly 12 weeks and feel exactly the same! Struggling to go for a walk without pain that lasts for the next two/three days ☹️
@Amanta ahh that’s really rough ☹️ what sort of pain are you still having? Nobody warns you that pp recovery can take this long do they, I feel like there should be more specialist aftercare
It took me ages to feel back normal physically after my first, but I did have a lot of stitches and a it was a few weeks before I could walk pain free never mind anything else! I don’t think my partner I had sex for about 8-9 months after! This time round I had no stitches, I was walking round Asda 2 days later, went back to playing netball after 3 weeks and my partner and I were back to having sex after 6 weeks. Every birth leaves us feeling different, and we all recover differently xx
I've ended up with fourth degree & episiotomy. Episiotomy got infected, and was on 9 different antibiotics. It used to hurt when sitting, walking standing, etc, only thing that helped was lying on my front. Now it's just sore when walking where the episiotomy is still healing, like the rubbing against the stitches. Surgeon said that the stitch they used can take up to 6 months 🥴. I was seen by Gynae recently they said I'm a bit behind where they're expecting but should get better 😭
@Amanta wow you’ve really been through it, sounds like you’re doing amazing
I feel like this too! I had a c section but my whole body just aches all the time, lower back, pelvis, hips, knees - everything hurts when I do any exercise or even just walking or going out for the day. I am 14 weeks PP and only just had first sexual experience with my partner last night since having our baby. It’s taken a lot longer than I thought it would & I compared myself to others all the time but everyone heals at their own pace and it can take longer than you think. I am starting to feel a bit better but my body still aches a lot! I want to lose some weight but finding the time is tough 😔
I'm in exactly the same boat at 10 weeks pp! Have a lot of heaviness down there still, I feel like I can feel the scar tissue from my tear all the time and definitely haven't been getting intimate 😅 had the GP check things down there and they said it all looks 'healed' and just might take some time to feel normal again. The best thing you can do is not compare yourself to others as we're all on our own journey, and if anything seems genuinely 'wrong', it's best to get it checked out 💜 take it easy on yourself, we've been through a lot! Xx
