There’s always a chance it could get cancelled. I got there for 7am and was due to be first to have my section but emergency after emergency kept coming in, it go to 3 and was told if another emergency came in they would have to push it to the following day. Luckily no more came and I went in at 4pm. This was the general, the royal less chance of cancellation as they have a day schedule for thir c sections x

I had an elective c section at the LRI a month ago and was on the 7am arrival. I was first in due to having gestational diabetes and had baby by 9.30am however the other lady that arrived at 7am with me didn’t have her baby until 1pm as it depends on where you sit on the list. There is always a chance to be cancelled I think more so if you have a later arrival time… however at the LRI they do have a separate theatre they use for electives so chances of being cancelled are lower than the general when speaking to some of the nurses. Good luck for your delivery!

@Becca I’m having a planned c section at the royal in August. How far ahead did you get your date? And what day was it on?

They usually let you know 2 weeks before but I wanted my daughter to be born on a specific date, close to my due date and I requested my date and they were fine with it

@Danielle I got my date about 10 days before. I was consultant lead so we did all the paperwork and went through the risks that they have to tell you about at my 35 week appointment and then had him at 37 weeks. Once that part was done, they usually phone you within 48 hours with a date for your pre-op and delivery date. My delivery day was a Wednesday. The midwife on the ward said they generally tend to do electives on a Monday and Wednesday currently. Any other questions feel free to message and happy to answer as I know it all seems a bit of a mystery as to the process and nobody seems to really give much away either.
