I had one too- healed pretty quickly and no issues. Sex- about the 4 week mark and no pain or problems. Waxing- I think I gave it a couple of months but honestly that’s the last thing you’re gonna be thinking of doing!/having time for appointment wise! (And I’m a regular wax-goer- all the way up until I gave birth!)
Also- it sounds a lot worse than it actually is. It’s controlled tearing which can be favourable for healing
The first week it was really uncomfortable but after two weeks it felt better. I avoided sex for ages, maybe around 3 months as I was so nervous 🙃 so it was definitely fine by then. If you're UK based, boots cooling pads really helped take the pain away during the healing process
I didn't have one, but I had a 2nd degree tear. Sitz bath really helped.
I couldn’t even see my stitches. I couldn’t even tell you where I was cut. I had them checked and all ok. I assume all ok as touch wood no pain everything looks and feels like before. I was uncomfortable for about a week. I was constipated for 4 weeks had some meds for that. I used to hold a sani pad over my privates while going to the toilet in the earlier days to help feel more in control. I had sex about 5 weeks pp was a little uncomfortable but since I’ve had no issues.
I had one alongside a 2nd degree tear and it was absolutely fine. I had no pain at all. I was given laxatives for a few weeks to help with number 2s and used a peri bottle for cleaning. It defo sounds alot worse than what it is from my experience. I waited until my 6 week pp check. I had all my stitches checked and was given the all clear for exercise/sex.
I had an episiotomy with my first. Healed pretty well but I was up and about on day two (dog walks, normal life things etc) which I’m told is the best way to recover. We had sex about 4/5 weeks PP and whilst I was terrified and we took it easy it was absolutely fine. But this can be personal/emotion etc. I didn’t look…I think too many are too curious and it can freak them out so I just didn’t 🤣 I also don’t wax, I only shave but that took a good 4-5 weeks before I attempted that. My pelvic floor is a whole other question, I’ve since had a second child and I’m not totally in control of my pelvic floor but don’t think that was due to the episiotomy!
I had an episiotomy and second degree tear with my first baby. For me the pain was horrific for about 2 weeks. Then it was moderate for about another month. Continence returned to normal without much effort. Had sex at about 11 weeks and it was absolutely fine. Probably could have been earlier but didn't want to traumatise myself (again) x
I had one, I didn’t tear - they needed to cut me to make room for a Kiwi delivery (that plunger thing lol) sex was a little uncomfortable but found it was more the angle, using a pillow to prompt up the hips helped a lot, my scar got a little hard my health visitor at the time said to lubricate and massage but all and all worked perfectly xx
@Lizzie yepp avoiding looking too! Would rather live in ignorance so it doesn't get in my head
@Suzie how long for continence to get back to normal? Im 3 weeks PP and i have this dragging feeling and still leaking when sneezing
For me it was a couple of months but I honestly did nothing and it improved by itself x
Hey .. I had one. I used a peri bottle to stay clean I healed really quick.. I'd say 3-4 weeks later I was feeling good. Had sex at 7/8 weeks PP although i was scared it was absolutely fine. You can get your doctor to check your stitches at your 6 week check. .. I think I went back to waxing after 6 weeks. Can't comment on the incontinence as I was lucky not to have that x
