What's everyone thinking about birth and where to have baby? I have my birth plan meeting tomorrow and have no clue what I want!! Anyone had a successful home birth for their first baby?

I had mine monday, it wasnt anything strenuous. Just think about csection / vaginal birth and what your preference is, id you want to be in a hospital or midwife led unit. What pain medication you can recieve in either is important in the factor, and also if you want to have a water birth or not. But you can change your mind, mine just gave me pointers and will go through it more at 32 weeks x

I’m glad you’ve popped this on as I have no idea what this meeting will include. I know I’ve got all this to come but no idea. X

When I first wrote my birth plan with my son, I thought that was the do all & end all. Turns out, labour can be pretty unpredictable so this time I’m going to be more flexible. Here’s an NHS template you can use a guide, just do what feels right & ask questions about options 🫶🏻 https://assets.nhs.uk/prod/documents/My-birth-plan-nhs.docx

i need to swap hospitals as the one i’ve chose doesn’t do sections (not planning on one but just in case) and they send you to a different hospital which i had a traumatic time at with my first. i’m high risk so my birth options are pretty limited

I had a plan A/B/C on mine - so what I ideally wanted and then working through if I did end up in different scenarios what I’d want to happen, so I’d had a chance to think in advance and my husband knew what I wanted in each case. Eg what pain relief would you/wouldn’t you want, what if you had to have a c section etc. Luckily my “ideal” pretty much worked out 🙏

How far along do you generally discuss this? My last midwife appointment was 28 weeks and she didn’t mention it, my next apt is 31 weeks

@Charlotte I had mine today at just under 32 weeks, I think they mainly do them around 34 to 36 weeks. But I requested to have it earlier due to anxiety, which my midwife was happy to do!!!
