Sleep training

Anyone done it, had success, got a recommendation? Appreciate it’s not for everyone but some of us are more sleep deprived than others 🤪🫠

I've been doing pick up put down for the last month. Wondering how long this will take 😅

I did but I kinda invented my own method, worked with both my babies though. I put them down awake after nap/bedtime routine then left the room. If they got upset, sing over the monitor to calm them down. For October baby this was enough for naps, over a couple of weeks he didn't need any singing. Bedtime was harder, so if he wasn't settling I'd go in and sing, if that didn't work pick him up to calm then put him down. If it got to 30 minutes and he wasn't going to sleep then I just fed him to sleep and tried again the next day. Over a few weeks he didn't need help anymore and just settled happily by himself. I tried to just sing to calm him down, not sing to sleep but sometimes it was necessary if he got overtired etc. Basically as little help as necessary.

Creating a routine when it comes to nap time. I would put the sleep sack on and tell him it’s time to sleep and that I’ll see him later. He did cry a little in the beginning but it took about a week or getting him used to it then now he falls asleep within a few minutes. I think he associates the sleep sack with sleep now and that’s what makes it easier

We did the ferber method with my daughter, she took to it really well and we noticed an improvement around night 3! We will do the same with my son x

Also did the Ferber method with my eldest around 5-6months old worked great within a week, will do the same with this one if he doesn’t naturally drop the night feed by then

Highly recommend "Taking Cara Babies" (you can find her on instagram). I used her ABCs method for my first who never slept more than 2 hours max for 9 months. After 4 nights using the method she was sleeping through the night 12 hours in her own bed and I never looked back! I've been using her foundations for sleep this time around and it's working well. She doesn't recommend proper sleep training until 5 months as its a development thing for babies to learn. But I swear by her methods!!

Thanks for all this advice everyone! Very encouraging that people are having success with different methods.
