@Haley 💚 I can’t wake myself up enough to get out of bed, I’m barely awake when I feed her. I want to get out of bed and walk around so I stay awake but I’m struggling to wake myself up enough to do that
Hiya! I‘m afraid I don’t have any advice on how to stay awake but if you struggle with waking uo and getting up in the middle of the night, have you ever considered co-sleeping? I am also a deep sleeper and thought you might find it reassuring to hear that I am rarely awake during night feeds either. I co-sleep with my LO who has figured out how to latch and unlatch himself with no to little help. If I wake up at all, I make sure he‘s latched but I will be asleep by the time he unlatches. If changing your own behaviour proves difficult, I would experiment with solutions where you adapt the environment so that baby is safe even should you fall asleep during nursing. ❤️
Do you have a partner that can wake up with you? Maybe put the baby monitor or bassinet on their side and they have the task of waking you up.
Building on Haley’s idea: you can try a baby monitor for deaf people. Instead of playing the sounds of your awake baby it comes with a vibrating pad that you can put underneath your pillow. If your head being shaken whilst you‘re asleep doesn’t wake you up, then I don‘t know what will 🤣 https://www.connevans.co.uk/catalogue/4935466/Baby-alarms?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=708677199&utm_content=49896688039&utm_term=baby%20monitor%20for%20deaf%20parents&gadid=582751055934&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADOstHL66liFEt8XNLMfIjsTCwjby&gclid=Cj0KCQjwm7q-BhDRARIsACD6-fUqxV8cIumTyXV4ZTrK9Oi31FZo-fSVAklOsDG3_iWjtElgNaSUKuQaArxBEALw_wcB
@Haley 💚 I do, but he doesn’t wake me, never got up during the 8 weeks since I’ve had her. Putting her on the otherside does sound good just scared I won’t hear her. I’ll try it out with an alarm first
@Hanna hey yeah so she normally ends up in bed with me where I’m so tired but I wake up panicking I’m petrified of sids. But my partner refuses to sleep downstairs so I can co sleep safely. Not sure what I can do🤷🏼♀️ xx
@Hanna this is a great idea! I might have to try this. My nearly 6 year old used to slap me on the face to wake me up🤦🏼♀️😂 it scares me so much how deep I sleep😩
Have you tried putting her bed slightly further away, close enough that you can hear but far enough that you have to get up to feed her
Also if you do want to co sleep and you feel comfortable to do it you could get a cheap mattress to place on the floor somewhere for now and that way partner can stay in the bed x
So you get out of bed and still can’t stay awake? Have you tired leaving the room?
