Baby refusing naps slowly driving me insane!

Is anyone else’s baby refusing their naps every day? I literally battle for sometimes an hour between his next to me, the carrier and my arms and he’s just not happy to sleep anywhere?! Just slamming his legs in his cot or screaming in my arms/carrier because he’s so overtired?! Any tips, I’m going insane!

Almost every day 1-2 times 😂

Yep me too! My girl is a contact napper and even fights still 😭😂 I’m in the regression so I believe it’s all part of that! I’m going insane too haha

Does he sleep when you take him out for walks in the pram/carrier? I've found that's the only sure way to get my baby to sleep!

Same here! It’s been such a battle! I feel like she’s only ever happy in the pushchair or the car but that’s not doable every time 😂 hoping it’s just another phase!

Refusing help to nap can be a sign he wants to self-settle though he may not know how yet. Leg slamming is a form of self-settling. Have you tried just putting him down at nap time and seeing what happens?

I've been going through this for a few days and he's ended up crying himself to sleep while I hold him. I've tried everything and sometimes it has helped to just leave him to self settle, but this morning I noticed two teeth had just popped out so in our case it appears to have been teething that was causing it even if his gums never looked red or swollen xx

@Megan only for his first nap strangely?! I think he’s more tired then, if it’s any other nap he just gets upset in the pushchair x

@Hannah praying the phase passes soon! He turned 5 months yesterday x

@Liv my little boy is definitely teething so maybe that’s part of the reason he won’t settle x

@Tanya yep, I usually put him in the next to me cot and lie on the bed next to him, but he just gets progressively more upset x

Ok, maybe try mini nap routine (I do 1 book, sleep song and tell him it's sleepy time) then experiment with comforting him in the crib, like patting shushing singing see if any of those help. Or even leaving the room, some babies get more riled up if they know you are there. I sing to mine over the monitor if he gets upset, usually works for him. Did this for a few weeks and now he just self-settles unless very overtired etc.

@Tanya will definitely try this, thank you x

Oh and room dark as possible and white noise, forgot to mention those. Hope it helps.

@Megan exactly, same as you. If I take him outside he will sleep

Same same same🫠🫣 she will only sleep if I go for a walk with her in the pram! X

Same, we’ve had about 30mins total all day 🫠 only place she naps easily is the car

Every single nap! I spend more time getting her to sleep than she’s actually asleep, 30 mins almost exactly no matter if it’s contact nap, pram, cot or car seat 😩
