Weaning off breastfeeding

We decided to wean from breastfeeding. It's been two nights so far and I cried from the sadness of my little's exit from baby hood, which is partially what breastfeeding meant to me for him. Now, I'm dealing with engorgement pain. How long did it last for you? What did you do to ease the pain, emotionally and physically?

Hats off to you! I tried to do this about a week ago and I caved because my heart was breaking. Can you give me any tips on how you’re making it happen?

How are you going about weaning? I’ve been trying but my girl is boobie obsessed and screams for hours until I give in 😩

@Cheyenne I taught my baby to sign "All done" and "milk". When we're done with our night routine, I will sign to him. We have an established good night song and my husband and I sing it to him during the time he wants to breastfeed before bed. He does whimper but on and off for 15 - 30 minutes. We rub his back and I say out loud to myself that "This is part of growing up." I also snuggle him while he cries. I cried too and last night we cried together. I wore a shirt he can't unbutton and tucked it into my pajama pants.

@Winnie we’ve been doing all of that and she just screams! It took us an hour to get her down tonight. I think I’m just going to have to stay strong and keep at it

@Jourdan I weaned by dropping one feeding a month. We eventually got down to one night feeding at bed time. We maintained that feeding for the past 5 months. We dropped it two now three nights ago.
