Makes absolutely no difference for my 4 month old. She still wakes every 2-3 hours wether it’s breast or formula :( x
@Carla thank you! I saw that you posted about combi feeding how are you finding it? x
I mix 3oz of breastmilk and 2oz of formula and she has that once a day. It’s not a lot but just want to make sure she’s okay with formula and it’s less pressure on me pumping. It’s only been 2 weeks but so far so good 😊 x
@Carla do you give that of an evening before bed & how did you know how much to give, I’m worried I’ll over feed!! I’m thinking of giving 2 & a half ounces and just topping up by feeding her x
Sometimes before bed and other times during the day. It really depends on plans. She’s always had 4oz bottles of expressed milk and seemed content after it so I just added another 1oz to see how she’ll take it and she’s fine, doesn’t refuse the extra 1oz and isn’t sick after it so we just stick to the 5oz now x
Your milk supply is lowest in the evenings (highest between 1-4am) so baby will never be getting a "full feed" before bed while on the breast because it's at its lowest. Formula takes 4 hours to digest where as breast milk takes 3 hours. This is why babies sleep longer in theory with formula. Whether you choose to pump or just skip it if you're planning a bottle at that time is up to you!.
