You're producing colostrum the first few days, which is what your baby needs and that's enough, the full milk supply is not instant. Colostrum is also what you could try to express before. Remember you might not get anything out, and that doesn't mean you won't have any once baby is born.
I harvested colostrum from like 37-38 weeks.
@Giorgia yes sorry, I should’ve said colostrum and not milk! I didn’t produce a thing until my son was 2 days old but managed to successfully breastfeed after that point. I had a section with him though so wonder if that was why. I’d like to try and get a bit of colostrum going before this baby is born to prevent that happening again so I’m hoping it’s possible!

Definitely not until full term! Can be really dangerous to do beforehand as can trigger preterm labour x
36/37 weeks. I was breastfeeding my first still when my second arrived and my milk still came in fully after a few days. It’s totally normal that it isn’t instant
