Does your baby sleep in their bassinet?

Hi all I’m expecting my baby at the end of April and now shopping for baby essentials. One of them is a bedside bassinet, and I heard that actually it is one of the most overestimated items as babies prefer to sleep with their moms (and I get it, so safe and cozy😇) Just wanted to hear from you if some of your newborns actually used their bassinets within next few months?

I bought a bassinet and used it for the first week my baby came home and I was SO sleep deprived. We started chest sleeping and my mental health was so much better. The bassinet was great to hold laundry and toys! Lol

I bought an inexpensive one on amazon the bedside ones and my son slept in it for months, I loved it, he napped in it and slept in it.

I bought a 2nd hand one and my baby slept on it until 4 months

We have the baby Bjorn bassinet. It holds cleans laundry now. My 5 week old baby refuses to sleep in it

We used the bassinet for two weeks. Baby was hardly sleeping and we were hardly sleeping. Now we just co sleep and everybody is happy!

Hi! If you’re going to use a bassinet on the stroller then can just get a stand for the stroller one to use beside or get a playpen that has a bassinet attachment that way it’s dual purpose.

We use our bassinet on a stand every night for safe sleeping. We also have a travel bassinet that we used in the bed the first couple of weeks, as he got used to it. Babies don’t have a circadian clock until after 6 weeks old so be patient with their sleep patterns. It’s exhausting, but worth it. ❤️

Yes I’ve used the bassinet until my daughter and son moved into their crib at 5 months. We also had the uppababy bassinet with the stand for downstairs when baby slept as well.

I got a fisher price basic bassinet because I was worried we wouldn't use it. Ended up leaving it in our living room and shed nap in it during the day but at night we put her in her crib. I couldn't sleep with her next to me (super noisy) and I'm far too scared to co sleep.

@Neah thank you! Yeah I’m afraid that’s gonna happen to me as well and I’m planning to buy the most expensive one lol. 300$ for a laundry storage seems like too much🤣

@Annalicia yes, every baby is different. I’m glad you found what works for you!

@Wendy oh no, it’s a nice bassinet…

I also have a baby due in a few weeks and couldn’t make a decision on the bassinet, ended up finding a simple one for $45 at Once Upon a Child and it’s super lightweight and on wheels to move around the house. If baby likes to sleep in it that’s great, but if not I know it’s mobile enough that I can use it for short spurts while I’m outside of the bedroom. Had a friend with a two month old come visit and she slept in it great while we were hanging out in the living room.

I borrowed a bassinet from a family friend and returned it after. They are very expensive and honestly, I didn’t end up using it much. It took up a lot of space and my son was much happier sleeping with me than he was sleeping in the bassinet. It’s helpful for a few hours of solo sleep but ultimately, I wouldn’t recommend purchasing one. If you can find a rental or one to borrow, that’s what I would suggest.

@Jordan Borrowing or renting a bassinet is a really great idea!

Wasted 3 weeks of my life tryna get my son to sleep in his bassinet. Should’ve just bought a firm mattress before he was born so I could cosleep. Got the best sleep of my life once that bad boy was delivered and we bed shared 😂
