Back issues

Hi all , has anyone experienced problems with their back after your child is so many weeks old. I had a section 6 weeks ago and I am taking pain killers for my back and not my section. Is this because my core is shot to pieces ? Thanks

Show your support

I had a herniated disc with sciatica after my first was born. It got so bad that I had to have an operation when she was 10 months old. Your body still has the relaxin hormone in your system for a while after giving birth, so you can still be prone to injury. Back pain could be caused by a number of issues but a weak core would definitely contribute to it. Look up some deep core activation exercises - these will be very simple, low impact moves (things like breath activation, dead bugs) - if you google diastasis recti, a lot of the recommended exercises are good for weak backs and core activation. I would also look at wearing a tight back support (you can get cheap off Amazon). They make you feel more secure around the middle and make you aware to “hold yourself”. If the back pain doesn’t subside and you feel it getting worse, go to your GP. I had to get an MRI.

I had my first c section 3 years ago and still suffer from back issues because of the spinal, so probably is that!

Thanks both. X
