Supply issues?

Hello! Just wondering if anyone had a similar issue and any advice for me.? I have quite a fast let down and usually it’s only a few seconds after my LG (11.5 months) latches. The last few days this hasn’t been the case, she’s having to suck for a good thirty seconds or more before the let down and I feel like I really have to think about it. This happens for the week before my period the as soon as my period comes it’s back to normal. It’s super frustrating though, especially for LG.

Hey, I totally get this! My letdown is usually fast too, but I’ve noticed that right before my period, it takes longer, and my baby has to work harder for it. It’s so frustrating, especially when they get impatient! What helps me is doing some breast compressions while she’s nursing and sometimes using a warm compress before feeding to get things flowing. I’ve also heard that staying hydrated and taking calcium/magnesium can help with the hormonal shifts. You’re not alone in this,it’s annoying, but thankfully it’s temporary! Hang in there, mama!

It’s a relief to hear I’m not the only one thank you! Every time it happens I fear I’m drying up. Thank you 🙏🏼

It is very normal for your period to cause a drop in supply. It's caused by a spike in certain hormones. Just make sure to latch baby as often as they like. And maybe you can throw a pump or two in on the days it's dropped.
