Co-sleeping cots?

My son and I have been co-sleeping since he was two weeks old, and it’s worked really well for us. Now that he’s six and a half months old, he’s becoming much more mobile. Today, he rolled from one side of our super king bed to the other for the first time, flipping front to back in quick succession. I wasn’t expecting him to gain confidence so quickly! For now I’ll be using his Next-to-Me crib, but starting to feel a bit tight, so we’re looking for a larger alternative. We’re not ready to stop co-sleeping yet, and I want to find a crib that still allows him to turn towards me when he wakes at night. Right now, he instinctively rolls towards me to be picked up, and I don’t want him to suddenly be met with a wooden barrier. Do you have any crib recommendations that would allow for a similar level of closeness while giving him more space to move?

Following as we’re also wanting to do the same. I’ve been looking into next to me forever cribs but they’re hefty on price! I also thought about putting a cot up to our bed and leaving one side off but I’m just concerned he’ll slide down inbetween both bed and cot. So I’d like to know also how others have done it!

Hi, not a crib but maybe something worth considering - we actually decided to skip crib altogether and set up a floorbed in his room. I now put him there for naps and just starting to do parts of the night there as well (as be is about to turn 6 months) - I'll put him down there and after a first wake up either I cosleep there or bring him to our bed 😊

Have you considered a floor bed? We’ve decided to skip the cot and move straight to it :) Easier to co-sleep and encourages LO to be more independent when the time is right x

@Caitlin I left one side off and got a bed rail just incase - I don’t know whether it’s right or wrong but it works for us 🤷🏼‍♀️ closest thing to a next to me on a bigger scale xx

@Aimee That’s a good idea, I’ll look into them I’ve also seen people say a tightly rolled blanket in the back and putting draft excluders or weights behind the legs to prevent moving. I think I’ll be okay because he’s going to be pushed up to the wall so he’ll be snug to my bed xx

@Caitlin yeah my friend literally put her pregnancy pillow down her gap so it was flush, mines completely up against the wall too and the gaps minimal but I was still worried about the tiny gap there was xx

@Antonia @Ollie our bed is fairly new and wouldn’t want to get rid of it so soon, otherwise, we just don’t have the space. @Aimee what are you doing for naps or first part of the evening, is baby ok to be left alone?

To be honest, I don’t put her to bed early that she gets left alone. I think in the next few months I’ll potentially begin letting her nap more independently for when I’m due to go back to work so my mum has it easier but currently I contact nap with her at every nap. Her final nap is around 8pm, her final bottle around 9 then I put her to bed around 10 and I’ll be in bed myself by then watching some TV xx

@Aimee That looks really neat too! didn’t want it looking all funny next to my bed (i’m so ocd with that stuff hahah) is yours a space saver cot or normal? x

@Caitlin omg I was worried about the same thing but got to make the most of a bad situation 😂😂 so yes it’s a mini cot bed - the Obaby Nika Mini x

@Aimee Amazing thanks so so much! I’m going to get a mini cot and steal your idea 😂xx

@Aimee that does look really good. I’ll look into it too. Thank you!
