I don’t know what to do

My son is 10m old and he’s been teething really bad. The top teeth are breaking through his gums but he’s been very cranky lately. It could be his gums but he’s been screaming and throwing a lot of tantrums. He sleeps about 11-11 1/2 hours every night so he’s not sleep deprived. But he’s been irritable and very fussy, sometimes hits when he’s not getting his way. I’m not sure what to do, do I keep allowing the negative behavior because he’s teething? Or I can’t do anything about reinforcing corrective behavior because he’s only 10 months and doesn’t understand.

Does he have teething tablets or tethers ? They helped my baby a lot !

Give the baby Tylenol, Motrin, or teething drops. We used Earthley. I don’t even believe you can call them tantrums at this age. In this case, it sounds like his teeth are hurting and he’s trying to communicate that to you. When my baby is teething she will be so grumpy in the morning and the teething drops usually help.

@Kelsey Ive recently given him some Motrin and that seems to give him some relief. I’m just a FTM and I’m learning everything as I go. He’s normally a very happy baby and always smiling and loving but he’s just been so fussy and irritable.

@Chanell I have a BUNCH of tethers for him. He tries to put anything in his mouth to help relieve him. I haven’t tried any of the teething tablets though, how does that work ?

Yeah my son did the same thing we just kept redirecting him. He’s starting to calm down now Scratching and biting

I also make breast milk popsicles for her and she LOVES those. If you don’t do breast milk you could do water or frozen fruit. This is what I use: https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjY6qT_gZSMAxUVS38AHdbVFvYYABAVGgJvYQ&co=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjws-S-BhD2ARIsALssG0aCBP0mck8nS-CC_E8yT6FijM1gF0AMlYIjqTTtiMPKkQzdU2XjypIaAhgBEALw_wcB&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESV-D2nCM-rrMQA1kWvwfcvRpbb3bhF8x7cgCwO7PLnnMNiqSGYQFXWwbEULA0qMfQWczk7lXEeR5ndlvcSAtvv3Vqnk_2dHjkTlptDfuey_Kp4QarZiFdYA&sig=AOD64_12WlWKPlGWrcI2DFbJ8ya4J10GKw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjg7p__gZSMAxX-78kDHb47K3cQwg8oAHoECAgQDQ&nis=8&adurl=

@Kelsey those the same ones I use for breastmilk and fruits as well.

Try soothing him first- the pain from teething (the antecedent) is what’s causing the behavior. His behavior will change once you are able to make him more comfortable. What worked for me was putting frozen fruit in his fruit/veggie feeder. Not only was it soothing to his gums but it was a tasty snack that motivated him keep sucking-which helped him to continue to self soothe. My baby is 10 months now with 7 teeth and now knows how to signal to me he’s having pain bc he only does this “behavior” to get help for it. Good luck
