Potty training at night?

My son is doing really well day time potty training and not many accidents now. We haven’t started night time yet. Finding mixed advice. The oh crap method says wake your child at 10pm and then at 2am 🫠 yet eric website says avoid lifting your child as it encourages them to wee during sleep?? Any advice appreciated!

I’m in the same boat, my daughter has absolutely aced dated time training. Don’t even know where to start for the night but I definitely will not be waking her up at 10pm and 2am! That’s crazy to me 😂

@Shaianne yes that’s what I think!! Want to ideally avoid that!! Plus then I don’t know if I’ll get back to sleep 🫠😭

We literally just tried it one night because my son was really good in the day and not having any accidents, and he's been fine overnight ever since! Maybe we just got lucky, but I'd say if they aren't having any accidents in the day, just give it a go overnight and see (maybe get a mattress protector if you're worried 😅)

Night time is apparently a hormonal thing . So I've litrally waitied till my son has had dry nappies in the morning . Last week he was dry 3 nights in a row so now he wears pants and hasn't had an accident yet . So I'd say jist wait till your child's body is ready.

@Scarlet this is useful to know!

@Emma not worried about me getting back to sleep, what about the child! 🤣

We done the same, just tried it one night to see how he got along and ever since then he has been potty trained through the night. Since July he hasn’t worn a nappy! We just reminded him before bed to have a wee and had a potty in his bedroom incase. He only tends to have accidents at night if he has fallen asleep before we put him to bed, which is very rare. Now he usually wakes me up at about 2-4am and I just take him to the toilet then he gets back into bed x

Thank you for all your advice!! This is all so so helpful!! I will see if he’s dry when waking up over time and go from there!!

@Shaianne oh god yeah 😅 I didn’t really think about that. Ideally don’t wanna be playing at 2am 😂

I just waited until mine had been dry over night for over a month. She would often be dry for 2 -3 weeks then have a couple of wet nappies. She’s been out of night time nappies for 4 months and has only wet the bed once in that time so I do think it’s worth waiting ☺️

We had 7 dry nights and so whipped the nappy off. That was in July last year and we’ve maybe had 3 ‘accidents’ since then (usually when she’s been ill). I’d agree on waiting until consistently dry overnight and then give it a go
