Ladies who have had a c section, did you have to book an appointment with the doctor for your 6 week check up or do they contact you?

You book the appointment 😊 when you register the baby with the GP they should give you a little piece of paper for all the upcoming appointments you need

Oh okay, I have registered him over 2 weeks ago and haven’t received anything about that. Thank you for letting me know!

Oh wow! Maybe not all GPs do the little paper then. Book your and your baby’s 6 week checkup in the same appointment

I didn’t have to book. I just got a letter in the post telling me when they want me to come in when it got closer to the 6 week mark

I was contacted both times

Oh right okay, I’ll wait a week or 2 and ring them if they haven’t contacted me in the mean time!

My GP booked the 6 week check but then they cancelled it and said they will do my checks at my son’s 8 week jab appointment. Even at that check they didn’t do much at all for me, the entire convo was about pushing contraceptives on me and asked about my mental health. They never checked my incision or asked about it

@Sarah I found that as well. They'd not long taken out my catheter at the hospital and the consultant was there to talk about contraception.. honestly furthest thing from my mind 🤣

Thank you ladies, appreciate the help!

@Faye I think I told them “the only going inside me anytime soon is food” 😂😂🙈🙈

I booked my appointment in for 6 weeks. I then got a letter at 6.5 weeks telling me to book in between 6-10 weeks. I often find I have to chase routine appointments though, I’ve had to chase most my sons vaccination appts

My surgery did it all for us. They called me after Id given birth and registered baby for me. Then sent me all of the appointments. The check for me was pointless - do I want contraception and are you ok? I asked her to check my section scar and she said she didn’t really know what she was looking for 😂

@Sarah damn I wish I'd had something that pithy to hand! I think my other half was helping them lift my legs to change my lovely absorbant pad thing just before they came round so I was too gobsmacked to come up with a smart response 🤣

I had mine at 8 weeks they booked it for me, i Also booked a mummy mot around 16weeks as felt gp didbt check anything

@Faye I think it was only because I was starving as it was about 6pm and I had been fasting since 2am that day
