How soon do you get moved into the post natal ward after a c-section?

Do you go to the recovery area first and if all goes well how long are you there for roughly? Worried about not having enough bonding time me daddy and baby before parents turn up. TIA x

It usually depends on if they have a room/bed available. But I went after about 2 hours x

Hey lovely! Different for everyone, but all going well it’s 15-20 minutes maximum, they do a little handover and take you up to the ward. For mammas (like me) who don’t react to anaesthesia very well they keep you a little longer. Although they may call you in at like 7am, it can be much later by the time they actually get to doing the c section. You don’t haveee to tell your parents immediately. Take a moment for yourselves 💜

I went down at half 2 moved to the ward at 11pm as I wasn’t well afterwards, but that also meant my partner got sent straight home they didn’t even let him on the ward to say bye 🙄

I was in recovery for about an hour then moved to the ward 🙂

@Megan oh no!!That’s awful!! Sorry to hear you wasn’t well. I thought at UHCW that dads were allowed to stay overnight everyone tells me x

I didn’t feel great after mine but I did come back round after an hour so was moved shortly after that. My husband stayed with me the whole time, I couldn’t have imagined being left on my own with our baby without him! Xx

My last baby was born in Leicester not Coventry.. I’ve heard dads can stay at Coventry too which I’m hoping for for baby no2 😊 x

I was in recovery over an hour, not sure the exact time but didn’t feel rushed. I was then on the ward for three days and my husband stayed the whole time. UHCW 2023.
