I Want to Comfort My Baby, Not Have Her Taken Away

Every time my daughter cries, and two minutes have passed, my mother-in-law wants to take her from me and carry her away. I appreciate the help, but honestly, I don’t want her to be taken from me. I’m a first-time mom; I want to learn and experience my motherhood. Maybe if she has been crying for a long time, I’d be okay with someone else holding her so that the change of arms might help calm her down. But I don’t know… do you think I’m wrong?

No you are not wrong. Tell your mother in law thank you, but no thank you. Don't allow anyone to take your baby from you. I know some cultures are different. However, you can stand up for your needs and baby.

Your her mother so she needs you the most.

Just because you’re a first fine mom doesn’t mean you’re incapable

Please tell her not to take your child in that moment you’re both learning each other and that time it’s important.. your smell and touch is especially important to baby at the moment so tell her to let you do your thing

I would tell her honestly that I appreciate the help a lot and that I’m grateful to have her around, however I would like to learn how to calm my baby myself. And then maybe suggest that I’ll just ask her if I feel overwhelmed. ☺️ Effective communication can take you a long way.
