Noises

Hi all My baby is just over 3 weeks old. The past week he has started making noises when breast feeding which I can only describe as grunting and like he's struggling. He also cries during the feed for a few seconds but the continues feeding and the same thing happens over and over throughout the feed. I'm not sure what's causing this or if it's something to be worried about. I know I'm producing milk as I can hear him swallow it. Any ideas please?

My 5-week old has been doing the same thing (plus squirming a lot) toward the end of some feeds. I think it’s gas because burping her soothes her and one time she spit up a lot after fussing a lot.

This could be him stimulating you to have let down. 🤟

@Missy-Matrix what does this mean please?

Seems super normal. I used to worry about all these noises when my boy was that age too. But at one point they just stopped. This post is more about grunting at night but might still be relevant https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGwAntmNS8u/?igsh=cDZreWM4MWpmdGF0

Also belly massage can help with indigestion

Let down is also known as the milk ejection reflex & basically just means your milk is flowing out, it can be tingly or feel funny & you will notice baby swallowing more when this happens. So basically your baby could be trying to make your milk flow, there are lots of ways babies can do this but these can all be signs. If however you think something isn't right then definitely get him checked as it could be anything. Good luck 🤟
