Nipple shields

Anyone breastfeeding and still using nipple shields? If so how’s weaning off them going out are you not trying yet? Or has anyone used them for a prolonged amount of time and successfully got rid of them? (I’m not talking weeks i mean months) Was told by the lactation consultant at 9 days it would take a long time to get baby to latch without because of the shape of my nipples, but it will eventually get easier. - now 3 months/ 14 weeks and occasionally latching without I’ve read about people using them for the whole breastfeeding journey/using them for 4+ months but just finding them a bit of a faff

I stopped using them on certain feeds when I was indoors and could take the time to make sure she was latching properly and then just stopping using them more frequently. I was advised that feeding with them & then removing for the remainder of the feed works too x

I stopped using them around early Feb. I was advised to feed with them and when baby is properly feeding gently take it away then latch baby back on. Tried doing it once a day then increased in number of times until my baby don’t need it anymore. Just be patient and slowly wean your baby off, it is easier without it xx

Thank you! I will try what you guys suggested xx
