Would recommend giving yourself the recommended 6 weeks so as to reduce chances of an internal infection. If you are still in pain please don’t attempt it. Have a conversation with your partner before if you can about how everything feels different and that you may need to stop. Use plenty of lube.
I waited about 12 weeks pp with second degree tear and stitches. It was very uncomfortable (but we’d barely had sex throughout pregnancy either so had been a really long time). I don’t think I was actively enjoying sex again the way I used to until around a year pp.
I had a fourth degree tear, and an episiotomy that wouldn't heal for 2 months and kept getting reinfected. It was bang on 3 months. Surprisingly it wasn't that bad! It was slightly uncomfortable but okay x
I had a second degree tear. I waited 16 days. I felt fine though! I didn’t find the sex painful, or even uncomfortable!
i feel like you won’t know you’re ready until you try. i had sex at 4 weeks pp after a tear and really wish i’d stood my ground and waited because it was so so uncomfortable and i was in pain for days after! honestly just listen to your body and if you feel ready, there’s no harm in trying, there’s always the option to stop if it’s uncomfortable or painful :)
