We’re in the middle of pottytraining here too. Going well, still some accidents. Tip: if you choose to do it younger it will take longer than the magical “three days” people tout when they do it delayed at like 3 or 4. So just adjust your expectations so you don’t get frustrated and give up 🥰 have a lot of patience when pottytraining!
I just started thinking about it, and I was thinking putting him on the potty at regular hours: three times a day (morning, noon and end of afternoon). I also saw a method which is giving a sticker and the kid sticks it in a note book when they use the potty correctly.
I wouldn't rush it and put to much pressure. I would look for signs of readiness. Like waking dry after nap, being able to communicate that he is wet, and knowing what the bathroom is and being comfortable. Be patient and know some kids ( especially boys aren't always ready when you are) and it will take time. I clothed diapered and practiced EC, and I believe that's why my son is fully trained. I used the no diaper method once I decided to train, and it took about a week.
My sister said when she trained my two nephews at 2-3 years old they were diaper free any time they were home and wore underwear, skip the pull ups they mimic the feel of a diaper. She took off a week of work and the kids sat in the potty every thirty minutes she gave them their favorite drinks so help them go. They were trained in 4 days
We do elimination communication. It’s worked really well for us. We are 100% with 💩 and 60% there with pee pee. Thinking of doing a whole weekend where we do training undies or just pants all day. We do the usual “potty opportunities” like when coming home from being out or whenever we wake up in the morning and from a nap. She tends to hold he pees for about 2-2.5 hours so when she goes in the pants it’s A LOT training undies just don’t cut it so we really have to be on it cuz she doesn’t tell us she needs to pee as often as she needs to. Just went slow with this. Hope this helps!
@Ashlyn thank you for this! I was so worried abt my 2yr old not being able to get potty training down with the “3 days method” it didn’t seem reasonable to me 😂 she’s just learning to follow more complex directions correctly.
