No unfortunately she won't have it, and I don't blame her - I tasted a bit and almost threw up 🤢 it tastes like soapy sick!
I have high lipase! I didn’t try it personally but you can add alcohol-free vanilla drops, and that should help with the taste. And yes, you can scald it before storing it. I’m pretty sure you have to, don’t you? When it’s freshly pumped? Could be wrong 😅
I think the idea is you scald it asap when it’s fresh and then freeze/chill it. I think I have high lipase too as I could never get either of my two to take a bottle. My eldest just fed before I went to work and when I picked her up, didn’t bother with any milk at nursery. She was 1 when I went back to work so she could cope until I got back.
You may find your baby is happy without milk by the time they start nursery anyway, I think quite a lot (especially breastfed babies who refuse the bottle) just take a big feed before and after and run on food for the day xx
She's 9 months now and will be starting nursery when she's 11 months. She's not great with solids yet, she's exploring but not actually consuming much, which is why I'm a bit worried as she's still heavily reliant on milk. I can give her formula if expressing and scalding becomes too much of a faff, but ideally I wanted her to keep drinking my milk. Hopefully with a big feed in the morning she won't need much though. Thank you all - no one I've spoken to has ever heard of this before! I couldn't get her to take a bottle either and I'm wondering if this is why. I only discovered it because I was showing her how to eat puree and tasted a bit that had my milk in. I couldn't believe I'd been trying to get her to eat it 🙈
@Rebecca mine isn’t eating much in the way of solids yet either, but don’t forget 2 months is a lot of time in baby world!! The last week my baby has learned to crawl and point, and she’s cut another tooth. These things can suddenly click for them, and she won’t starve herself if you’re not available 😊
That's very true, when I look back at how far she has come in the last few weeks it shows how quickly they can change. Thank you 😊
At 11 months she'll be fine without milk while you work, as long as she's taking food and water. Then she'll top up as soon as you are reunited. (I'm a breastfeeding counsellor)
I had this and luckily my baby just drank it anyway I didn’t have to do anything to it so maybe just try and see if they will still have it? X
